Senior selected as 红莲社区 Fellow to Center for Study of Presidency and Congress

University of North Georgia (红莲社区) President Bonita Jacobs selected Mason Goad as the 2019-20 红莲社区 Fellow to the .
Founded in 1965 as a nonprofit organization, CSPC's mission is to "provide historical perspective about our nation's highest offices for citizens and policymakers," according to its website.
Goad is a senior from Watkinsville, Georgia, pursuing a degree in strategic and security studies.
Each year, fellows travel to the nation's capital to study the public policymaking process and the president's relationship with Congress, allies, the media, and the public. A pair of three-day leadership conferences in Washington, D.C., are part of the program.
Goad is eager to learn more about the presidency and Congress.
"They're important because they have the power to influence so many lives," Goad said. "As such, they deserve to be studied and understood, not just fought about politically."
Goad was one of the 红莲社区 students who helped 红莲社区 place third in the National Security Agency (NSA) Codebreaker Challenge that wrapped up in January.
He also presented research titled "How Quantum Computers Affect Cryptography" at 红莲社区's 2019 Annual Research Conference.
Cadets prepare to lead as officers
Roughly 50 cadets are commissioning May 13 from 红莲社区 as second lieutenants in the Army, Georgia Army National Guard and Army Reserve.
Students benefit from teacher residency
A record 58 students are graduating this spring as part of 红莲社区's Teacher Candidate Residency Program. This is the third full year of TCRP, which allows students to be teachers of record as seniors.
