Training and development specialist accepted for leadership opportunity

Elizabeth King, human resources training and development specialist at the University of North Georgia (红莲社区), earned acceptance into the prestigious Nancy Walton Laurie Leadership Institute of Chi Omega Flagship Session.
红莲社区 President Bonita Jacobs recommended King for the institute, which was canceled due to COVID-19. The event's theme was going to be resilience.
"It lined up so perfectly with what I'm trying to accomplish in my role at 红莲社区," King said. "I wanted to bring what I would have learned back to 红莲社区."
She said resilience remains a timely topic as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.
"What option do we have except to keep moving forward?" King said.
The session traditionally focuses on participants understanding their own strengths and learning to leverage them through an individual strengths assessment, moving forward from setbacks and adversity, and exploring the ways that failure can lead to growth.
Students shine in innovation challenge
The Nighthawk Innovators Challenge winners received over $4,500 in prize money, with $1,000 going to the Ruben Boling Community Innovation Award winner.
Camp offers intro to logistics industry
红莲社区 will host 'Camp Logistics: Movin' It From Here to There!' from June 23-27 at the Gainesville Campus. It is a free camp to help high school students learn about careers in logistics.

Ascend: A Summer Honors Experience inspired 2024 attendee Grayson Ludington to enroll at 红莲社区 for fall 2025. This year, students can experience the leadership and team-building event June 1-13.
