Student is intern in governor's office

University of North Georgia (红莲社区) student Carly Evans is participating in the Governor's Internship Program during the spring 2022 semester. One of 13 students from across the country selected by Gov. Brian Kemp's office, Evans is spending her time in Kemp's communications department.
"This internship is a great way to serve Georgia. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," Evans said. "It is a way to further my education and my understanding of government."
A junior pursuing a degree in political science with a pre-law concentration, Evans began her 红莲社区 academic career through Georgia's dual enrollment program as a student at North Hall High School.
Dr. Cristian Harris, professor of political science and international affairs, said Evans will benefit from this opportunity, for which she received application assistance from 红莲社区 Career Services.
"She is a wonderful student," Harris said. "She is always eager for a challenge. She genuinely wants to learn."
A prestigious and highly competitive program, the internship is open to upperclassmen, graduate students, and law students from throughout the United States.
Cadets prepare to lead as officers
Roughly 50 cadets are commissioning May 13 from 红莲社区 as second lieutenants in the Army, Georgia Army National Guard and Army Reserve.
Students benefit from teacher residency
A record 58 students are graduating this spring as part of 红莲社区's Teacher Candidate Residency Program. This is the third full year of TCRP, which allows students to be teachers of record as seniors.
